In many vocations, individuals wouldn’t consider venturing forward without a coach. Competitive athletes (amateur and professional), actors, and musicians (instrumental and vocal) all work with coaches. Many of the most successful business leaders both receive coaching themselves and coach those who report to them. Professionals—including therapists, lawyers, physicians, and coaches—often participate in some form of “supervision” to ensure they continue to learn and grow and have resources available to support their delivery of services to their clients. Even coaches have coaches.
I consider it my role and responsibility as a coach to get you from where you are to where you want to be in the most effective way possible. I am trained to guide you on that journey and am continually updating my skills with ongoing coaching, supervision, and professional development.
Beginning the Journey
We will come together based on your recognition that there is some element of your personal and/or professional journey that you are committed to exploring, and—perhaps—to changing. Success for you may be an incremental shift, or may mean living into what you now consider an impossible future. It may be a solo journey, or one through which you lead a team or entire organization. We will begin the journey by uncovering and clarifying your intent for our work together; we will also work to clarify how you will know when that intent has been achieved.
On this journey, I will see you as intelligent, competent, resourceful, and whole. As such, my job will be to allow you to stand in your power, resourcefulness, and creativity. This means that our work together will be focused on discovering and applying your wisdom in order to achieve the intention you are setting forth. While I may share with you my own insights and experience when they are relevant to your journey, I am not here to provide advice or tell you what to do; that is not coaching.
How We Will Work Together
The role of client and coach is as peers. I am a trained professional coach, not a therapist; I do not attempt to provide diagnosis or treatment. I will listen intently to you, and ask powerful questions. While our work together will take place primarily in pre-scheduled coaching sessions, your journey is ongoing. As such, it is likely that we will often generate “field assignments” for you to complete between sessions. It is also important that I come as prepared as possible into each session, so I will ask that you provide me with a brief electronic update prior to each coaching session.
Communication
Between sessions, if you need to ask questions, tell your story, bounce some ideas around, etc., you will be able to email me for limited email support. If possible, at your request, we can schedule a quick 20-minute “laser coaching” mini-session between sessions.
You will share your stories, wins, disappointments, challenges, anything that you like with me, as well as your opinion of the coaching experience. I want to know what works well for you, and what doesn’t, so I might strengthen my ability to guide you on your journey.
Confidentiality
As your coach, I will maintain the strictest level of confidentiality regarding our work together, unless release is required by law. If I want to record any of our sessions for my own review and/or for sharing with my mentor coach, I will only do so with your express permission.
If you feel this is the kind of coaching you are looking for, please schedule your complimentary Creating Clarity coaching session so that we might begin the journey.
