The skills required of a good organizational leader are complementary to, but not the same as, the skills required of a good change leader. What is required of you to maintain the status quo and what is required of you to transform it are fundamentally different. For example, during periods of relative stability, strong leaders pay attention to employee satisfaction. High levels of employee satisfaction are directly reflected in organizational productivity and quality measures. On the other hand, during major change, employees are not highly satisfied. What they have come to know and expect is being disrupted; they find themselves experiencing significant levels of uncertainty. During these times, a good change leader shifts focus from employee satisfaction to employee success: How do I as a leader help you to succeed despite your discomfort? How do I ensure you know—and believe—that I am committed to your success?
Change leadership coaching is right for you if you anticipate you will be bringing your organization through turbulent times in the foreseeable future. It begins with an assessment of your leadership and change leadership skills. This assessment is conducted through 1:1 interviews with you, as well as individual and/or focus-group 360-data collection; the focus is on the specific skills that contribute to successfully leading major change. Once the assessment is complete, we will develop a coaching program designed to strengthen your change leadership capabilities.
Change leadership coaching can be provided at the individual level. Team change leadership coaching is also available. Team coaching includes both 1:1 and team coaching sessions.
